DJ Hernandez has been with Banner Health and ENTECH since 1999 when he was hired to assist with the Y2K project. He received his biomedical training in the army in 1991 and has been in the field for nearly 24 years now. 

DJ is originally from Deming, New Mexico where he grew up on a pig farm. At a young age, DJ was fascinated with learning how things worked. Being mechanically inclined, he frequently disassembled electronics, motors and other items and attempted to put them back together, most of the time successfully, but sometimes not. He knew he didn’t want to pursue a career as a pig farmer, so he joined the army. He was stationed in Fort Knox and Fort Bragg and pursued biomedical training in Denver. DJ eventually graduated from Arizona State University and is certified as both CBET and BMET. He specializes in medical lasers and perfusion technology. He also services many surgery centers and basically goes where his talents are needed.

DJ is married and has four children, three boys and one girl. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing and hunting, among other activities. DJ and his family used to race dirt bikes, but currently they ride dirt bikes recreationally rather than competitively.

Furthermore, ENTECH’s parent company, Banner Health – specifically, the Technology Management Department – will be presented with the 2015 TechNation Department of the Year award. This is quite an honor for ENTECH and Banner Health and its Technology Management employees who deserve this distinction.
